Stay Safe, Ravers—

Raving is sometimes more than just a concert or music festival to some of its event goers! For example, some members of the EDM lifestyle consider themselves “professional ravers”— some using this scene as a gateway for their marketing or modeling careers. In fact, some of these “kandi kids” (although a dated term, it still holds value amongst those who participate in the rave life), have created major business out of EDM (emazing ligthts, iHeartRaves, and other EDM event hosting companies like Insomniac or myLED).

Although these concerts are definitely energy filled and full of PLUR— there have been a few moments of sadness (Hard Summer). This has pushed the EDM scene into the media’s spotlight. Due to these kinds of situations, raving has been deemed incredibly dangerous and something to avoid. However, anyone who has gone to a rave will tell you it is a place where you meet the greatest people ever.

But, when bad things occur at festivals and are blasted through the media and a stereotype is then blanketed over the whole EDM community, changes must be made in order for our ravers to keep on raving. Due to the circumstances at Hard Summer Music Festival 2015— an event that is not considered a rave at all— upcoming events now have to limit their attendance numbers (65,000 reduced to 40,000) and to raise their security precautions.

In addition to the new limit on attendee numbers, there is a new petition to require event goers to be above the age of 21. This has caused a lot of uproar considering that about 35% of those in attendance are 18-20 years old.

Rather than punish ravers, there should be more support or education on how to “survive” these major events (like the ones posted on TDGs WordPress). Just stay safe when attending the upcoming events! Drink lots of water and watch your surroundings~ We’ve all got an entire lifetime ahead of us, make the most of it while still staying safe!

For your next events, plan with TDG! We’ve got your back when it comes to affordable hotel prices and transportation. With Till Dawn’s shuttle plan (like with EDC), there was water provided on the vehicle so you won’t get dehydrated! (Till Dawn Group)
